Summer Program 2014 update
Category : News
We’ve been all having a ball this summer at our JIT 2014 Summer Program. The summer program runs throughout the entire summer of 2014. Our program’s goal is to ease the transition from and back to the school year, to continue our students’ academic progress, and to maintain their social growth with fun group activities and trips.
Each day for the student is a balance of keeping busy on their development as well as to enjoy the summer with their friends. The students continue work on individualized table time programs. These programs are vital to communication and cognitive development and should be continued all year round. The summer program is a great opportunity for social skill development with conversation drills, group board games, community field trips, and our group walk exercises. The students also have the opportunity for vocational training through our Med-Vending, Med-Market, Med-Baking, and Med-Office vocational training programs.
We make each day of our summer program memorable with a variety of fun activities our staff and students love doing together. We have an on-site outdoor swimming pool as well as an indoor pool across the street for Aqua-therapeutics. The students stay active through modified sports and time at the Longwood Recreation Center. Modified group yoga is a great way to unwind after such a busy day. Our Adam is great on the guitar and our students love doing group music therapy with him.
We look forward to the next half of the summer being as excellent as the first half!
