A Win For All ! Guernsey Team + AAMC Team
Category : News
I just wanted to say a special thank you to everyone on the team for all the help over the past few weeks working with Ryan and Lauren on creating and practicing their speeches for the 4-H Public Speaking Contest. Special thanks to Annie, Edris, Maira, Jake and Amie for all those trips to the library – the revising, editing and practicing the speeches gave them a lesson in persistence that really paid off!
We just got back from the 4-H Communications Contest and everyone came away with a special award! It was a tough competition this year since Heather, Ryan and Lauren are all intermediates and Eric is a Junior. They all entered in 3 categories (prepared speech, radio spot and extemporaneous) except for Eric who decided to withdraw from Extemp today, so he entered in prepared speech and radio spot. I want to say also, that it would not have been possible for me to help Eric and Heather as much if it hadn’t been for the help of all the techs so we could divide and conquer the work. The twins’ time at JIT with Maria and Pratik helped me to focus on Eric and Heather. Special thanks to Edris and Annie for the early morning help at the contest all the way through the award ceremony. Here are the stats:
Heather: Intermediate Champion in Radio Spot
Lauren: Intermediate Reserve Champion in Radio Spot
Ryan: Intermediate Reserve Champion in Prepared Speech
Eric: Junior Champion in Radio Spot and Reserve Champion in Prepared Speech
They really made us proud and their 4-H club proud too! I have to say also, that Ryan had the judges laughing up a storm with his incredible delivery on “Should Schools give Homework.” I know that each and every tech can appreciate Ryan’s passion for his opinion on the matter! The animated way that he delivered his speech with inflection, gestures and comedic relief really drove his point home! It was a personal best for him! We are proud of all of them – they all practiced hard and came across with confidence and pizzazz!
Thank you again for all your help,
