Autism Speaks 5K Run

Category : Uncategorized

Our friends from JIT as well as the British Swim School – Montgomery County participated in the Autism Speaks 5k on the 4th of July. Our team raised $1300 for this special cause and we were joined by Jena, Dr Ro & Pop, Emnet, Orlando, Abdul, Colby and Samantha and her mom, as well as other friends and family. We all had a great time running for a great cause and hope to participate again next year!

Learning Safety Skills through Social Stories

Category : In The News , News

Today I am working with Pratik and Ms. Carol. We have been working on the 911 Emergency power point social story so I can be ready in case there is an emergency like if a stranger comes in or near my house, if we’re in a car accident, someone is hurt and if there is a fire. Another thing we’ve been working on is comprehension skills and speaking in full sentences. Comprehension means understanding what’s around me and what I read. Today I grew in comprehension or understanding of why school has been closed all week, the differences between the four seasons and emergencies.

I hope you have enjoyed my journal entry and thank you for taking the time to read it.

Have a nice weekend!

Sincerely,

Emnet

AAMC Visits the Circus

Category : In The News , News

Today, we got to go on our trip to the circus. We went to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Verizon Center in Washington DC. We took the Metro Rail into the city to see the show. We got to meet some of our friends from JIT. We sat together for the show. We got to see the tigers, the elephants, and other performers. There was a performer who got shot out of a cannon! This was our first time at the circus and we loved it! We can’t wait to go again. Thank you for the opportunity Easter Seals!

Sincerely,

Emnet

March’s Birthday Party

Category : In The News , News

On Tuesday, March 15th, JIT celebrated its monthly Birthday Party. It was our third Birthday Party this year and the theme of the party was clovers. All of the students had done various art projects as decorations for the party based on the clover theme. The party was special to Ms. Jenny because she got to celebrate her birthday with our loving JIT students and our staff. It was a fun evening filled with laughter and happiness. Students sang “Happy Birthday” while enjoying delicious cake and snacks.

AAMC’s 2016 Holiday Party

Category : News

On Sunday, January 3rd, AccessAbility MedCare hosted their Annual Holiday Party and Open House at Jena’s Integrated Therapy (JIT) Center! It was an amazing day, filled with fun, friends, great food and fellowship! It was such a great opportunity to meet all of the wonderful people who make up AAMC’s community, and introduce ourselves to new students and staff members that others had not yet had the chance to speak with. It was amazing to see all of the students and staff having fun, enjoying the great food and the amazing music which was DJ’d by our very own Samuel and Brian! After the party was over, a few other staff members headed over to the St. Francis of Assisi’s Church for a special mass ceremony celebrating individuals with special needs. DJ Samuel, also made a guest appearance in their choir! It was a wonderful day with the AAMC’s family and we look forward to many more celebrations!

“I went to the JIT party. First I ate lunch. I ate meatballs and salad. After I ate lunch I danced a lot. I saw my friends dancing too. Then I ate cookies. I walked with Jessica. Then I played on the swings with my friends. I went back to JIT I sat with friends. Mom and I went back home. I had fun because the party made me happy. Next time I will say ‘bye’ to Dominic.”
