AccessAbility MedCare Culture Day!

Category : Uncategorized

The International Culture Day was held on Saturday, Decmber 2nd in Rockville at the FITZ clubhouse. This was a very fun and exciting event! I was with Sasha, a new technician of mine. He is a good friend to me. AAMC staff Beth and Phanna were the setup helpers and did a wonderful job coordinating and distributing flyers and emails. I helped out with setting the table for the kids. There were a lot of different foods from different countries such as India, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Greek, Korean, German, France and Ireland, to name a few. I loved the rice from West Africa and its various spices, but I also love the delicious bread from Ireland. I loved eating the scrumptious sausage rolls from the UK. All of the JIT crew came to the clubhouse, hung out, chatted and enjoyed a traditional dance from Bolivia and Mexico! We danced a traditional Bolivian dance with music. Jena and I represented Korea because that is a big part of our family cultural heritage. I ate foods from Korea most of the time. I learned more about culture and how it plays a big part of our lives, and the many ways we are all different. The culture party, in general, was fantastic, because it was a wonderful feeling to experience foods from many different cultures and the fact that we, as a people, get to celebrate God’s children all over the world!

Summer 2017 Toss and Fun Camp!

Category : News

Upcoming Field trips and Photos to Come!

Summer 2017 Toss and Fun Camp

In August our staff and students went to Needwood Park for a peaceful nature walk and adventures exploring the woods! It was a great time had by all, especially the students-who loved the long walk and took advantage of all the space in the greenery and fluffy shrubs along the way.

Fun at the Needwood Park

Upcoming July Photos and Blog!

In June our staff and students went to Blueberry Hill Park and played toss games. We split into two groups for both activities and then switched half way through. The two activities were corn-hole and playtime with the parachute. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the warm summer weather! There was lots of fun had and a great many lessons learned about sharing, teamwork, and initiative. The JIT team enjoyed their time together being together with good friends to the JIT community. The staff took turns sharing and incorporating their fine motor skills with the students. The students were filled with joy and laughter as the staff explained what to do at Blueberry Park. Even though the students were happy with joy and compassion, they learned they had one thing in common: to work together as a team and to have fun with one another. The team leaders were doing a great job showing the kids how to behave with vigor and confidence.

Annual 2017 All Staff Hands On Training!

Category : News

The Annual 2017 All Staff Hands On Training, which took place in July at the SAH (Samuel’s Accessibility House). It was a huge success and further prepared our new staff to work more effectively with our JIT Students, and current staff with greater awareness of the available tools and resources for working with our students! Dr. Powers has provided a new location for our young adults program, to have recreational activities as well as a safe place for learning and growing in their vocational job specialties. The training event provided our staff with insightful information, rigorous training, lots of yummy food, and great fellowship!

It is always a privilege to serve our students at JIT (Jenna’s Integrative Center)! We work hard to not only provide the best training to our staff but also learn how to keep a positive and empowering environment. Some of our staff is pictured below in the group photos.

We thank all out Staff for coming out to our training and working so diligently in providing our students with the best care! Keep up the good work and we will be sure to continue the good work set out before us.

~Blessings to you all~
