Procedure for Inclement Weather Days:

Closures leads and communication team-

In order to better streamline communication of JITAC closures due to weather, we have come up with the following inclement weather protocol. We will NOT ALWAYS follow MCPS closures anymore. The decision to remain opened or closed will be based on several factors. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CHANGES.

1. Jamie Large will be the point of contact between the center and parents.

2. Night before an expected inclement weather: Jamie will be monitoring MCPS weather alerts and announcements in preparation to making a final decision the next morning by 7am. IF MCPS SCHOOLS HAVE ALL DAY CLOSURES DUE TO SEVERE INCLEMENT WEATHER, AAMC WILL BECLOSEDASWELL(UNLESSRECOMMENDED OTHERWISE) AND WE WILL SEND A MESSAGE TO ALL PARENTS AND STAFF

3. Morning of:

a. You will receive an email from Jamie regarding our decision to remain opened or closed. Our decision is based on factors such as how bad the weather is, Dr. Ro’s recommendation, and staff availability. 

b. If we are to remain open, you will reply to the email if you are interested in still taking your youth/young adult to the center that day. ATTENDANCE THAT DAY IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. We will NOT accept emails saying you want to take your youth/young adult to the center prior to when we send the email about remaining open or closed.

c. After you send us your reply, WE WILL THEN LET YOU KNOW IF YOU CAN OR CANNOT BRING YOUR YOUTH/YOUNG ADULT TO THE CENTER. DO NOT JUST SHOW UP AT THE CENTER-YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY. If we confirm your youth/young adult’s attendance that day, we will tell you what time you can bring your youth/young adult.
